Dr. Lembo the Director of the GI Motility and FBD Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His research has focused on the development of new pharmacological therapies for IBS as well as pioneering innovative mind-body treatments, including the role of placebo in IBS. Dr. Lembo is a member of several scientific advisory boards of pharmaceutical companies and has had editorial roles with many of the leading GI journals. He has administration leadership positions in the area of GI Motility and Functional Bowel Disorders at UCLA, Harvard and Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has served on numerous GI related committees at the FDA, The Rome Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the NIH. Medical education has been an important focus of his career and he teaches physicians, mentors and trains students, faculty and clinical and research Fellows at hospitals and academic center across the country. He has received numerous honors and prizes related to his work in gastroenterology and authored many textbook chapters, editorials, letters, articles and other educational materials.
